Russia’s Lenta buys retail chain Semya in Perm for 2.35 bln rbl

MOSCOW, Jun 17 (PRIME) -- Russian retailer Lenta has agreed to buy Semya (Family), a retail chain in the city of Perm and in the Perm Region, for 2.35 billion rubles, Lenta said in a statement on Thursday.

Lenta will pay cash for 75 Semya stores with acombined sales area of 46,600 square meters, including four hypermarkets, 27 supermarkets, and 44 convenience stores.

The deal should be closed until the end of August after the Federal Antimonopoly Service approves it. As a result of the deal, Lenta’s share of the Perm Region’s grocery retail market will amount to about 7%, which will strengthen the company’s position as the fourth largest retailer of the region, Lenta said.
